Peggy Ann Carbone

Feb 7, 2025

Mrs. Peggy Ann Carbone, a devoted Roman Catholic wife of 56 years, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, friend to many, passed away on January 31, 2025, after prolonged illness. She died at home in Richmond, New Hampshire, surrounded by her family. Peggy lived a life filled with faith, hope and charity. Born on December 31, 1947, in Peekskill, New York, Mrs. Carbone found joy in horseback riding, downhill skiing, and as a junior lifeguard. Her sense of adventure led her to a memorable trip to Scotland to celebrate her roots and visit the Highlands where her ancestors from the Clan Macfarlane roamed. Her deep pride in Scottish heritage stayed with her. The strong sound of the bagpipes would bring a smile to her face. May the sound of bagpipes forever invoke her memory in the hearts of those who knew her. In work, Peggy pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her nursing degree from Pace University in New York. Notably, she was the first person ever to be selected for the new nursing program at Pace in Pleasantville, NY. She received a scholarship. Mrs. Carbone dedicated her career to serving others as a registered (med-surg) nurse, embodying kindness and service in everything she did. She was well-liked among her peers and was sought after by different floors of the Saint Joseph Hospital, Nashua, NH. Peggy was active in the Catholic community along with her husband. She was a daily communicant. They served the State Council of the Knights of Columbus as the Pro-life Chair-couple. Mr. & Mrs. Carbone became members of the Third Order of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Her tertiary name was Sister Elizabeth of Hungary, a saint to whom she was devoted. Peggy’s love was far reaching, from the adoration she had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, sister and parents, to the nurturing of her hospital patients and the family’s precious Newfoundland dogs. Anyone who was fortunate to have been in her presence was sure to feel her beautiful caring tenderness. Peggy Ann will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and bravery. Mrs. Carbone suffered through numerous operations, hospital stays, and multitudinous emergency room visits over several years. Despite these crosses, she rarely complained, was always cheerful and offered up her pain to Our Lord and Our Lady.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert J. Carbone, Esq.; her four children, Jennifer St. George (Christopher) of Hudson, NH, Robert J. Carbone Jr. (Cathy) of Merrimack, NH, Nadine Mack (Shawn) of Merrimack, NH, and John Paul Carbone (Angela) of Nashua, NH; ten cherished grandchildren, two beloved bonus grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister, Cathy Friedman (Doug) of Bolivia, NC. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Elizabeth Sackel.

Calling Hours will be held at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452 on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Stanislaus Parish, 80 Richmond Road, (Rte. 119) Winchester, NH 03470, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Benedict Center, 95 Fay Martin Road, Richmond, NH 03470. In honor of Peggy’s deep Catholic faith, her husband kindly requests that, as a gesture of remembrance, Traditional Latin Masses be offered for the repose of her soul. If anyone needs help in obtaining these ageless beautiful Masses, contact the Cournoyer Funeral Home which will have a member of the Carbone family contact you. Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen. May her soul, and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
