Robert (Bob) C. Campbell Sr.

Feb 19, 2025

Robert (Bob) C. Campbell Sr., aged 84, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, in Nashua, NH. Born on March 27, 1940, in Syracuse, NY, he was the son of Mary (Yurdyga) and Clarence Campbell. Bob married Nancy Wallace, the love of his life, on August 20, 1960. Together, they celebrated 64 wonderful years of marriage, filled with shared adventures and mutual respect. A scholar by nature, Bob held a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Boston University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Science from Antioch College. His professional journey began as a computer instructor, eventually leading him to become a respected technical training content developer. Bob’s passion for the environment was profound. After earning his Master’s, he devoted time to fieldwork, contributing to native tree and salamander population studies for the NH Fish and Game and Beaver Brook Association. He was especially fond of wild birds. A proud veteran, Bob served six years in the United States Navy, where he was an electronics technician. Bob served on the guided-missile destroyer USS Sellers during the Cuban Missile Crisis. His exemplary service was recognized with the Armed Services Medal and the Expeditionary Medal. Bob obtained his amateur radio operator license at age 16. (call sign NF1M) Upon retiring, Bob and Nancy relocated to Oquossoc, Maine, where he discovered a passion for skiing, particularly at nearby Saddleback Mountain. He cherished the times his children and grandchildren joined him on the slopes. Bob’s love for the outdoors also extended to boating, snowshoeing, and hiking; he and Nancy successfully hiked 20 peaks in the White Mountains. A lifelong bibliophile, he collected and sold antiquarian books, although his wife Nancy jokes he kept more than he sold. Family was central to Bob’s life. He is lovingly remembered as a hardworking, loving family man, cherished by those who survive him: his wife, Nancy; children, Kimberly Nash and her husband, Jonathan of Wilton, NH, son, Robert and his wife, Dunja of Goffstown, NH, and daughter, Katherine Froekjaer and her husband, Jesper of Bedford, NH; his sister, Linda Skowran of Waxhaw, NC and nephew, Sean Fucci; his six grandchildren, Robert McDowell and his wife, Kathleen, Shane McDowell and his fiancé, Renee, Brittany Hogan and her husband, Brendon, Brenden Campbell, Ana Froekjaer, Freja Froekjaer, and four great-grandchildren, Jameson Hogan, McKenzie Hogan, Hannah McDowell, and Nolan McDowell. Bob was predeceased by his brother, David Juskow and a nephew, Louis Fucci. Remembered in the words of Robert Louis Stevenson, “That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much.” Bob’s life epitomized these words, leaving a lasting legacy of love and laughter. SERVICES: A Memorial Gathering was held on Thursday, February 20th, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at Cremation Society of NH, 243 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Bob’s memory to the Appalachian Mountain Club. Cremation Society of NH is assisting the family with arrangements.
