Matthew Scott Nestor

Matthew Scott Nestor, 44, passed away on February 23, 2025.
Born on August 10, 1980, in Buffalo, New York, Matthew spent his early years in Nashua, New Hampshire, where he graduated from Nashua High School in 1998. He later attended St. John’s University in Queens, New York, earning his degree in 2004.
Matthew had a lifelong passion for racing. As part of the Wolfe-Nes Racing Team, he excelled in go-kart racing, a sport that defined much of his childhood. His love for competition extended beyond the track; after moving to Florida, he developed a deep enthusiasm for barbecue. As an avid BBQ competitor, he participated in tournaments throughout the Southeast as part of Boston’s Butt BBQ team.
A devoted fan of Boston sports, Matthew especially enjoyed following the New England Patriots. Whether cheering on his favorite teams or perfecting his barbecue skills, he embraced life with enthusiasm and dedication.
Matthew cherished his family above all else. He shared a deep bond with his wife, Luisa Nestor, and their two sons, Marcus and Jacob. He was a loving son to Shirley Nestor and a caring brother to Patrick Wolfe and Joshua Nestor. His godmother and aunt Laurel Gerlach, sister-in-law Sasha Nestor, niece Harper –whom he was honored to be godfather to–along with nephew Hudson and mother-in-law Amparo Avendaño also held special places in his heart. He is also remembered by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Nestor; maternal grandparents Walter and Irene Palczewski; and paternal grandparents Michael and Helen Nestor.
A Funeral Mass will be held on March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Jacksonville Beach, Florida (523 Pablo Ave., Jacksonville Beach, FL 32250).
Matthew will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring person who deeply valued his family and friends. His memory will live on through those who knew and loved him.
