Sherrill Gail Williams

Mar 14, 2025

September 23, 1939 – February 20, 2025

After a brave battle with pancreatic cancer and other health complications, early on Thursday morning, February 20, 2025, Sherrill Jeffery Williams passed quietly and peacefully from this earth into the arms of Jesus.

Born and raised in Melrose, Massachusetts, she came to faith in Jesus early in her life and was actively involved in the Church of the Nazarene all her childhood. Sherrill attended Melrose High School where she was involved in Girls’ Club, Band, and Orchestra. She attended Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Massachusetts, where she not only graduated with a degree in Psychology but also met and married the love of her life, Howard “Howie” E. Williams.

After working as a social worker for the city of Quincy, MA, she and her family moved to Hudson, New Hampshire in 1966. There she was an active member and the financial secretary at Community Chapel, a Church of the Nazarene, and worked for many years as the Director of the Nashua Child Learning Center, as well as one of its original teachers.

After retirement, Sherrill and Howie, life-long New Englanders, moved south to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee. She was active in the Church of the Nazarene in Crossville, beginning a card ministry program and serving as a youth educator.

A wonderful cook and amiable hostess, Sherrill enjoyed entertaining friends. She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. She loved to read, solve jigsaw puzzles and Sudoku, and play card and board games. She had a warm smile and an infectious laugh.

Sherrill was predeceased by her mother and father, Alva and Roy Jeffery, and her brother, Bob Jeffery. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Howie Williams of Fairfield Glade; their daughter Kimberly (Jonathan) Mills of Wilmington, Delaware; and her grandchildren, MacKenzie Mills and Wesley Mills.

We celebrated the remarkable life of Sherrill at the Crossville First Church of the Nazarene (2565 North Main Street in Crossville, TN) on Monday, February 24, 2025. Please consider a donation in her memory to the youth program — marked “Sherrill Williams Memorial Fund” — at Crossville First Church of the Nazarene, 2565 North Main Street, Crossville, TN 38555.
