Mary E. Balon

It is with great sadness which we share that Mary E. Balon passed away peacefully on March 6th, 2025, in Palm Springs, CA at the age of 82. Born on September 15th, 1942, she was born to the late Elena Margaret (Schmidt) Desilets & Leo Francis Desilets. Mary was predeceased by her husband Richard “Dickie” Balon in 2000. Mary & Dickie were both raised in Manchester, NH where they met and married years later in1964. They had two children, Peter Richard Balon, who resides with his husband Pankaj Sharma in Palm Springs, CA and Patricia (Balon) Inglett who resides with her husband, Steve Inglett in Lighthouse Point, FL.

Mary was an only child and was lovingly “adopted” by the Balon family as one of their own. She has 3 sisters-in-law who all stay close to NH today. Bonnie Skillings, her husband Leslie “Pat”, Doris “Dotti” Balon, her husband Gary Frost and Brenda Philbin.

She graduated from Rivier University, Summa cum laude, in 1988 after years of attending night school; the same year her daughter graduated from UNH. She worked at Bemis Corporation in Nashua, NH as the Director of Personnel and then as Corporate Controller for nearly 20 years. She then worked for the Diocese of Manchester as the Assistant Communications Director until her retirement. This was by far her favorite job where she made life-long friends. She was the happiest she had ever been working there surrounded by such kind and compassionate people.

Upon her retirement and after Dickie’s passing, she moved from Nashua, NH to Cumming, GA to be near her beloved daughter where she lived for just over 22 years. In June 2022 she moved into Assisted Living in Palm Springs, CA near her beloved son, Peter. The climate, change of pace and caring environment was the perfect space for her final days.

A funeral mass will be held for Mary at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Manchester on Monday, April 7th followed by a private reception.
