Vasilios “Bill” Pervanas

Mar 21, 2025

Vasilios “Bill” Pervanas of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on March 20th, 2025, at the age of 95. Born on November 19, 1929, in Pentalofos, Greece, to George and Emorfia (Koutsos) Pervanas, Vasilios was the oldest of five children. He lived a full and meaningful life, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Vasilios, a man who never forgot his roots, was known for his remarkable ability to recall the smallest details of his childhood in his beloved hometown. He was a historian of sorts, eagerly sharing stories of his family and village with anyone who would listen. His memories were not just of times past but of a way of life he cherished deeply. He served in the Greek Army for two years, before embarking on the journey that would change his life forever.

In June of 1955, Vasilios arrived in the United States, eager to start a new chapter. He was excited by the weather, the cars, and the promise of new opportunities. Vasilios became a proud American citizen in September of 1960, casting his vote for John F. Kennedy in his first presidential election, a moment he would always treasure. Throughout his life, he remained committed to his civic duties, never missing an election and always embracing his right to vote with pride.

In November of 1960, Vasilios met the love of his life, Margarita, and they were married in February of 1961. The couple moved to Nashua in 1963, where they would build a home full of love, joy, and shared memories. Together, they traveled the world, visiting places like Sydney, Melbourne, Hawaii, Disney World, Canada, and their beloved Greece. On their 25th wedding anniversary, they reconnected with family in Australia, creating lasting memories that would be cherished for years to come. Their love story was one of deep devotion, and in 2011, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends.

Vasilios worked at Alec Shoe Store starting in 1961 and retired at the age of 82, having touched the lives of many loyal customers over the years. He made lifelong friends and served multiple generations of families with kindness, integrity, and dedication.

A man of faith, Vasilios was a devoted member of St. Philip’s Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua, where he and Margarita attended services regularly. He also belonged to the Pentalofos and Pan Macedonian Society and generously supported various fundraising efforts.

Vasilios had a deep passion for sports, especially Boston’s teams. Whether it was cheering on the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, or Bruins, he was always an enthusiastic fan. But above

all, Vasilios’s greatest pride was his family. He was a loving husband, a devoted father, a proud grandfather, and a delighted great-grandfather.

Vasilios was predeceased by his beloved wife, Margarita, in 2013. He is survived by his son George Pervanas and his wife Helen of Bedford, NH; his daughter Maria Stebbins and her husband Michael of Nashua, NH; his grandchildren Nicholas, Kristina, Ashley, and Alexa Stone and husband Bobby, and his great-granddaughter Lucia. He leaves behind his siblings: Kosta Pervanas and his wife Anna of Athens, Greece, Evangelos Pervanas and his wife Brenda of Hooksett, NH, Olympia Prampromis of Sydney, Australia, and Martha Pervanas of Athens, Greece. Vasilios is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will always hold him dear.

Most recently Vasilios lived independently at Nashua Crossing where he made many friends with both residents and staff. We are thankful for everyone there.

The family would also like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Courville of Nashua for the care and compassion they provided to Vasilios during his final days.

Vasilios “Bill” Pervanas was a man who lived with integrity, love, and a deep connection to both his homeland and his adopted country. His stories, his laughter, and his devotion to his family and community will never be forgotten. May his memory be eternal.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Philip’s Church in Nashua NH in his memory.
