Linda Baker

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our hero, Linda Baker, who lost her long and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on March 21st, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born in Amsterdam, New York, on August 20th, 1947, Linda was lovingly adopted by her parents, Edward and Mary Socha, in 1952. As their only child, Linda often fondly reminisced about growing up with her cousins in Upstate New York and the cherished summers spent in her favorite place, Chatham, Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Linda was a proud graduate of the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany, NY, Class of 1965. She later attended the Albany School of Practical Nursing, earning her degree as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1967. In 1969, Linda married the love of her life, Edward (Ted) Baker, in Augusta, Georgia. The couple lived in several places, including outside of Cleveland, Ohio, before settling in Londonderry, NH, where they made their home for over 40 years.
Throughout her life, Linda touched many hearts and made deep, lasting connections wherever she went. Her infectious sense of humor, kind-hearted nature, and unwavering dedication as a nurse made her a beloved friend, family member, and professional. For 25 years, she worked as a nurse at Hunt Community in Nashua, NH, where she formed strong bonds with staff, residents, and families. Her caring spirit and tireless work ethic earned her the respect and admiration of everyone she met. Linda retired in 2014, after a storied and rewarding career.
In her later years, Linda lived life to the fullest and successfully completed many items on her well-loved “bucket list”. She embraced adventure with enthusiasm, from ziplining and skydiving to fulfilling her dream of traveling to Ireland. She also enjoyed soaking up the sun, taking walks, playing tennis, and, of course, golfing with her close-knit group of friends.
Linda is survived by her loving husband, Edward (Ted) Baker, of Windsor, CO, formerly of Londonderry, NH; four children, Jennifer, Lisa, Karen, and Andrew; and her cherished grandson, Kelvin.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made directly to the Alzheimer’s Association, the Ride to End Alzheimer’s or Elderhaus Fort Collins in Linda’s memory.
Linda will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will forever remain in our hearts.
