Apr 25, 2025

JAMES F. “JIM” POWERS JR. – Of Bedford and Florida, formerly of Woburn, died peacefully, with family by his side at home, April 21st , at the age of sixty-eight.

Raised in Woburn, Jim was son of the late James F. and Virginia T. (Moran) Powers. Jim was a graduate of Woburn High School, where he served as a class officer and played varsity football – a sport he always loved.

Jim spent much of his life doing what he loved – running his car dealership with honesty, heart and a commitment to people. He grew the business into one of the most trusted dealerships in the area.

More than just a businessman, Jim was a remarkable boss. He treated his employees like family – remembering birthdays, checking in on their kids. For many, working at his dealership wasn’t just a job, it was a place where they felt valued, supported, and proud to show up every day.

Jim had a passion for community and was always finding ways to give back. He and his daughter arranged coat drives and donated to Toys for Tots annually. A philanthropist, he donated to the Boys and Girls Club, and the Woburn Host Lions Club.

Beyond his work, Jim was a devoted family man. He often enjoyed family get-togethers that ended in dancing to the Beatles in the kitchen, Sunday cookouts with his siblings and morning coffee and donuts on the porch in Maine.

In Florida Jim loved to open his home to host unforgettable parties filled with friends, family, and laughter. With his love of music he would hire a Frank Sinatra impersonator or even take the microphone himself. Anyone who knew Jim knows that one of his life’s passions was golf. He would golf every chance he got, whether it was a weekly standing plan with his friends, an annual golftournament in Maine, or teaching his step-son Leo.

Those who knew Jim will remember his warm smile, thoughtful advice, and his ability to light up a room and make everyone feel seen and heard. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion, leadership, and deep love that will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.

Jim was the beloved husband of Maria (Ghione) Powers. Devoted father of Yasmin Powers of Boston, cherished step-father of Leonardo Reposa, Olivia Reposa, and Lorenzo Reposa. Dear brother of Thomas Powers, Nancy Riley, her late husband Daniel; Virginia Ginny” Middleton, her husband David – all of Woburn. Jim is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews
