Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down

By Staff | Feb 12, 2022

Editor’s note: During the course of a week, issues are covered that might not lend themselves to full editorial comment, but they are worthy of The Sunday Telegraph weighing in – thumbs up, thumbs down or neutral.

Thumbs DOWN – To local school districts and municipalities for prematurely relaxing mask requirements. While this is an unpopular opinion, we must continue caution – for just a little while longer. Yes, COVID cases are on the decline; however, leaving mandates and requirements in place for another month or so would almost guarantee that we are on the right track to emerging from this awful pandemic. It has been a long road, but we should not negate the progress that has been made by ending these requirements too soon. That only will spell disaster in the long run, resulting in yet another surge. No one wants to see that.

Thumbs UP – To the Nashua Department of Public Works and all other crews involved in keeping us safe on the roadways during the recent winter storms. Crews throughout Southern New Hampshire did amazing work so we all could remain safe during our daily travels. Without these men and women, travel would be much more dangerous. They deserve much praise for the work they do – especially considering the volume of hours and times they are out working so there is as little disruption in travel as possible. While we hope Mother Nature will be kinder the next few weeks until spring arrives, we certainly are not out of the proverbial woods just yet. Please join us in thanking these dedicated workers for all they do.

THUMBS UP – Also to other workers who keep us going, including HVAC contractors, electricians and plumbers. Their work and dedication keep us safe in our homes during the harsh winter months in New England. We truly have much to be thankful for.
