Nashua’s hidden gem

By Staff | Oct 8, 2022

Nashua has many hidden gems. We are very fortunate to live in a community full of compassionate, caring and supportive people. From a litany of nonprofits that go above and beyond every single day, to countless businesses and business owners that pitch in at the drop of a hat, Nashua truly is a fantastic place to live.

That said, one of our real treasures is the Nashua Senior Activity Center.

Although we at The Telegraph already knew this, it was driven home once again last weekend when center officials were gracious enough to allow us to host our 13th annual Motor Mania car show event at the 70 Temple St. location.

While the weather was far from ideal – 40-something-degree temperatures and off-and-on light rain – the event was an overall success.

This was primarily because of two very special people – Judy Kunz Porter, the center’s development director and Margo Bell, the executive director. Porter put in countless hours of planning and organizing the event on the center’s end, which included food, music and tours of the facility.

More than a dozen vendors, including Humana, Harvard Pilgrim, Tindon Senior Services, Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, Fairview Senior Living, Villa Crest Nursing and Retirement Center, Dr. Woods Hearing Center, BRB TV Channel 96 (Nashua Public TV), Rose Haven at Merrimack, Nashua Lions Club, New Hampshire Senior Companion Program, Village Medical, Daisy Benefits, Bayada, United HealthCare and Anthem, were on hand to greet guests, give away goodies and provide important information to those in attendance.

We at The Telegraph cannot thank Porter, Bell, Clayton Foster and all the other volunteers that made this such a special event. Thank you from the bottom of our heart!

Next year, the car show will remain at the center, but much earlier in the year to avoid inclement weather. See everyone in 2023.
