HS Roundup: North, South baseball, BG, Alvirne softball teams win

Mondays aren’t always great, but this one was for Nashua North and South baseball, as well as some local softball teams. How about a softball game in which a total of 43 runs were scored?

BASEBALL

NASHUA NORTH 3, DOVER 0

The Titans (2-2) shutout the Green Wave on the road Monday. Andy Barry and Brady Sullivan each had strong performances on the mound.

Barry pitched five innings, giving up five hits and striking out five. Sullivan went two innings, giving up on hit and striking out two. Barry also added three hits, a run and two RBIs. Brady Mason had one hit and an RBI. North visits Timberlane on Friday.

NASHUA SOUTH 11, TRINITY 1

Nolan Mederos pitched a gem on the mound striking out four over five innings while allowing one earned run for the Panthers (3-0). Albert De La Rosa (two hits, RBI), River Hart (two hits, RBI) and Hunter Ward (two hits, two stolen bases, three RBIs) were head of the class on the offensive side.

South hosts Winnacunnet today at Holman Stadium.

PORTSMOUTH 9, ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos drop to 0-4 after a home loss to the Clipper Monday afternoon. Brady Simard tallied two hits and two RBIs and Jake Dufour had one hit and two runs. Alvirne hosts Bishop Guertin on Wednesday.

SOUHEGAN 7, CONVAL 1

The Sabers bounced back after Friday’s loss at Hollis behind the four-hit, 10 strikout pitching over 5.1 innings of Kyan Bagshaw, who also went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Matt Silk had three hits, Nolan Colby went 2 for 3 with two RBIs while Keegan Burke, Drew Reagan and Teddy Katsel each had a hit and Hayden Goerlich had two strikeouts over 1.2 relief innings.

The Sabers travel to Laconia on Wednesday.

COE-BROWN 2, MILFORD 0

The Spartans (0-3) gave up two runs in the bottom of the sixth innings in a tough loss on the road. Damian Philbrick took the hard luck loss on the mound pitching six innings, giving up one hit and striking out three; while adding a double on offense.

Michael Lima, Jake Lammi and Logan Howard had hits for the Spartans. Milford hosts Kennett on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 6, BELMONT 4

The Cougars improve to 4-0 after another win on Monday afternoon. Ryan Latsha got his second win pitching six and two thirds innings, scattering three hits, four runs, one walk and striking out 10.

Logan Daigle picked up the save. Garrett Arnold doubled and scored with three stolen bases — Jack Kidwell showed his speed by stealing home. Drew Avitabile singled and drove in two runs to lead the offense.

Campbell visits Prospect Mountain on Wednesday.

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 14, HINSDALE 0

Sean Brennan was unstoppable on the mound striking out 15 batters in five innings. WLC (2-2) visits Epping on Thursday.

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 28, BEDFORD 15

Kennedy Fitzsimons led the high scoring output with five hits including a double and a triple with nine RBIs for the Cardinals (3-1).

BG began the game plating three runs in the top of the first, but Bedford answered back scoring eight in the bottom of the frame against Meghan Davey. Bailey Doyle came in to relieve Davey in the bottom of the second and pulled off the win in five innings.

The Cardinals hit consistently through the order, including a three run home run by Ruby Wilson. Maddy Bowen and Torey Hart each had four hits for the locals. BG hosts Alvirne on Wednesday.

TRINITY/MANCHESTER WEST 13, NASHUA SOUTH 10

The Panthers dropped to 0-3 after Monday’s back and forth loss. Elizabeth DeRusha, Malia Martel and Natalia Rogers had multiple hits. South visits Concord on Friday.

MERRIMACK 8,SPAULDING 6

Hannah Stone (two RBIs, two runs) and Grace Lawton (two hits, two runs) held their own at the plate to secure a win for the Tomahawks (3-1).

Avery Hui pitched six innings, surrendering five runs, three walks and striking out six. Merrimack visits Portsmouth on Wednesday.

ALVIRNE 3, PORTSMOUTH 2

The Broncos (2-2) squeeze out a win against the Clippers. Madison Rambeau pitched four innings. Alyssa Abbott made her pitching debut allowing one run and recorded a strike out. Talia Duca had two singles and Sabrina Testa hit a double. Alvirne visits Bishop Guertin on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 12, BELMONT 0

The Cougars blanked Belmont to move to 5-0. Catherine Carignan pitched six innings, giving up two hits and struck out eight.

Carignan added three hits on offense along with teammates Maddi Lane and Liv Ashe. Abby Delia recorded two hits. Campbell visits Kearsarge on Tuesday.

HINSDALE 11, WILTON-LYNDEBOROUH 10

The Warriors (0-3) remain winless after a close loss to Hinsdale, giving up three runs in the bottom of the seventh with two outs.

Ryleigh Smith pitched five innings striking out two and Emily Dubois pitched two innings striking out three. Abby Dowling headed the offense with a double and a home run.

WLC hosts Newmarket on April 25.

BOYS LACROSSE

SOUHEGAN 9, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 8

The Sabers improve to 3-0 with a nail-biting win over the Cavaliers (1-2). HB’s Ethan Bender was a handful on offense scoring six goals. Jake Roy and Tommy Anderson (assist) each added a goal in the loss with goalie Tucker Luter making six saves.

Souhegan hosts Exeter and HB hosts Windham on Wednesday.

PLYMOUTH 10, MILFORD 3

The Spartans drop to 0-2 after Monday’s loss. Jack Seale, Hugh Palmer and Alex Johnson scored unassisted goals. James Brew made 15 saves in net; while Tyler Descoteaux and Luca DeRosa played well defensively.

Milford hosts Pelham on Wednesday.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 9, LONDONDERRY 7

The Panthers (4-0) hold on for the win after being up 8-4 at halftime. Ella Benzekri had three goals and four draw controls, Kaitlyn West had two goals and two assists, Maren Lowell had a goal and two assists with three draw controls, Bella Walsh had a goal and an assist; while Morgan Uzdanovich and Kylie Dawe (three ground balls, two draw controls) each had a goal.

Keira Walsh was solid net with 11 saves. Soleil Dubois, Karina O’Donnell, Vanessa Reeder, Bailey Carroll and Nevaeh Eppolitto contributed to the defense. South hosts Concord on Thursday.

NASHUA NORTH 14, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 4

The Titans even out at 2-2 after a dominating win on the road. Keira Sice led the way with seven goals. Ava Soucy and Summer St. Pierre scored two goal apiece; while Reagan Belanger, Kay Crear and Molly Ducharme (11 draw controls) added one goal each. Rachel Gauthier led the defensive unit.

North visits Keene on Thursday.

BISHOP GUERTIN 11, CENTRAL CATHOLIC 11

The Cardinals (2-0-1) end the game with a tie after Central Catholic declined to play an overtime period. Nat Coutu led the scoring with four goals. Steph Reap, Rylee Bouvier and Tess Prunier each collected two goals and one assist. Katie Campel added a goal and Arianna Kouchalakas had an assist. Makenna Reekie and Maddy Eder Linell made five and four saves respectively.

BG visits Souhegan on Friday.

MILFORD 14, PLYMOUTH 11

Grace O’Shaughnessey, Bailey Johnson and Kelci Waters (three assists) each scored four goals in the Spartans (1-1) win. Amelio Leo tallied two goals for the locals. Milford visits Pelham on Wednesday.

CAMPBELL 18, BELMONT 1

Elayna Montenero scored five goals with two assists and Bailey Bourque collected four goals and four assists in the Cougars (2-0) win.

Phoebe Drouin and Rania Chaudhry combined for 80 percent of the saves. Campbell visits Trinity on Wednesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 14, ALVIRNE 0

The Cavaliers (3-1) shutout the Broncos (0-3), on the heels of a Sabrina Hill (two assists) hat trick. Maddison Caetano (assist), Ireland Stark (assist) and Abbie Ogren scored two goals apiece.

Alyssa Hill (four assists), Paige Mello (assist), Nicole Heiter, Kaitlyn Castriotta and Samantha Smith each added one goal. HB visits Merrimack on Wednesday and Alvirne hosts Oyster River on Friday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

COE-BROWN 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals (0-3) fall to Coe-Brown by the scored of 12-25, 12-25, 17-25. BG hosts Londonderry on Tuesday.

WINDHAM 3, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The Cavaliers (3-1) suffered their first loss of the season 26-28, 19-25, 14-25. Jake Laborde (11 kills, two blocks), Aidan Norris (eight kills), Bradley Noble (five kills, three blocks) and Ethan Norris (29 assists, three blocks) played in the loss. HB hosts Coe-Brown on Wednesday.

BOYS TENNIS

NASHUA SOUTH 6, DERRYFIELD 3

The Panthers swept doubles to pull out their third straight win. The teams of Abhinav Avvaru/Santiago Somorrostro (8-6), Atul Phadke/Ahkil Kammila (8-4) and Koushik Tadipathri/Mihir Bhalla (8-6) all came out on top.

Singles winners were Avvaru at No. 1 (8-5), Kammila at No. 4 (8-2) and Bhalla at No. 6 (8-6).

BEDFORD 9, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cards suffered their second straight loss, with Dean Liakos and Ryan Wallat playing the closest singles matches at 8-4, as did Sean Cairns/Will Moynihan in doubles.

SOUHEGAN 9, SANBORN 0

The Sabers continue to remain unbeaten, getting singles wins by Josh Goddard (8-4), James Zeolie (8-0),Ryan Fernandez (8-0), Connor Firnin 8-1), and Samuel Bartle (8-1), with a default at No. 6.

Zeolie/Fernandez (8-1) and Goddard Marinelli (8-2) also won, with another default at No. 3 doubles.

GIRLS TENNIS

DERRYFIELD 6, NASHUA SOUTH 3

The Panthers gave Derryfield a good battle despite losing five of six singles.

South’s winners included Jenna Lecklider at No. 4, 8-5, and Lecklider teamed with Krista Duni at No. 2 doubles for a 9-7 win. Also, Samitha Nadella and Diya Bhatnager triumphed 8-4 at No. 3. doubles.

BEDFORD 9, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals competed hard, especially in all six singles matches, the closest of which was Amelia de la Vega’s tough 8-6 defeat.

PELHAM 9, WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 0

Elisabeth Jacob played well in a tough 8-3 loss, as did the Warriors’ two doubles teams that fell 8-2.

GOFFSTOWN 8, MILFORD 1

Milford’s No. 2 doubles team of Emma Grovesteen/Hayden Dyer provided the Spartans’ lone win.

Ava Hutcheons, Marissa Sage, Stella Crosby and Brooke Gizzonio all played competitive matches.

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

SOUHEGAN BOYS WIN QUAD MEET

The Sabers with 81 points bested Windham (73), Goffstown (72) and host ConVal (37) thanks to Wil Jaques capturing three events and finishing second in another. He took the shot put with a school record throw of 49-2.75, set a personal best in the javelin at 151-4 and won the high jump at 5-10. Jaques finished second in the discus at 131 feet.

Also for the Sabers, Nolan Dickinson won the 800 (2:09) and Carson Behn won the 400 in 56.42 seconds. The pair also teamed with Jaren and Dallen Noorda for a win in the 4×400.

SOUHEGAN GIRLS THIRD

The Sabers were paced by first places by Emma Herrero (400, 68.05), Caitlin Cooper (100 meters, 14.30 seconds) and Chloe Trudel (800 in 2:29.68).

Souhegan also took the 4×400 relay thanks to Herrero, Trudel, Stephanie Svendsen and Erin Taylor.
