HS Roundup: North girls soccer continues its hot streak
Break up the Titans. The Nashua North girls soccer team, that is.
The Titans probably wish the regular season had another month as, after several growing pains, they’ve come of age with yet another win on Wednesday, this time over local rival Alvirne.
Believe it or not, North (5-10) is in the hunt for the final Division I tourney spot, something that was fairly unthinkable a couple of weeks ago when it was 1-10.
The North boys, though, lost a tough one to another Manchester opponent. This and plenty of volleyball action is in the Wednesday roundup:
GIRLS SOCCER
NASHUA NORTH 2, ALVIRNE 1
Aiyana Zubhuza and Lilly Baker-Ollivierra found the back of the net to lead the Titans (5-10) over the Broncos (8-7) for their fourth straight win. Kaylee Moore, Sarah Frye, Alison Frye, Taylor Barry, Jessica Pech Buzek and Grace Ardin also contributes to the win on Wednesday. North visits winless Manchester Central and Alvirne hosts Salem on Friday.
BOYS SOCCER
MANCHESTER CENTRAL 2, NASHUA NORTH 0
The Titans end the regular season with a shutout loss to Central. North finishes with a record of 12-4 as they head into the playoffs.
KENNETT 2, MILFORD 1
The Spartans (5-10) suffer their fifth straight loss Wednesday. Avery Wilson scored the lone goal. Milford hosts Trinity on Friday.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
NASHUA SOUTH 3, TIMBERLANE 0
The Panthers (7-10) defeat the Owls 25-11, 26-24, 25-11. Leading South in the win were Katie Garland (12 kills, nine assists), Mia Suljic (11 kills, six aces) and Maddie L’heureux ( 21 assists, two aces). South visits Bedford on Thursday.
PINKERTON 3, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos (5-11) get swept at home by the Astros Wednesday night. Jaelyn Green and Erin Stevens played well for Alvirne. Alvirne visits Bishop Guertin on Friday.
DOVER 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 1
The Cardinals (11-6) fall to Dover by the scores of 18-25, 25-22, 22-25, 23-25. Playing well for the locals were Bella Reichard (eight kills, seven digs, two aces), Larisa Comolli (seven kills, three aces, three blocks) and Brooke Muller (seven kills and six blocks). BG hosts Alvirne on Friday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3, LONDONDERRY 1
Cheyenne Colbert had 11 kills as the Cavaliers improved to 15-2, taking three straight sets (26-24, 25-16, 25-11) after dropping the first set 25-16.
Maia Schneider had four aces and 11 digs, while Abbie Hoffpauir (three blocks) and Sophie Jordan (28 assists) also contributed.
The Cavs wrap up the regular season Friday when they host local rival Nashua North.
MILFORD 3, MANCHESTER WEST 0
The Spartans continued their winning ways (9-6) with a 25-16, 25-12, 25-16 sweep on their Senior Night.
Bailey Johnson led the way with 16 kills, two blocks, and one ace. Others helping out were Annalies Nassy (six aces, three digs, one kill), Alena Letendre (eight kills, two digs, one ace), Kylie Allen (five kills), Aoife O’Hagan (one ace, one dig, two kills) and Yashvi Patel (one ace).
The Spartans wrap up the regular season Friday at St. Thomas.
