The high school tournament trail can take you in a few directions tonight.

If you’re a high school basketball fan, you can head to Exeter at 5:30 for the Division I semifinal doubleheader involving both Nashua High School North and South.

If you’re a hockey fan, you have your choice: either head to Concord’s Everett Arena at 5 p.m. to see the Merrimack High School boys in the Division II semis. You can then head down to Manchester’s JFK Coliseum to watch Bishop Guertin in the Division I semis at 7:30 p.m.

Here’s a look:

BOYS BASKETBALL

No. 3 Nashua North will take on No. 2 Pinkerton Academy in a classic battle of the Titans’ speed vs. Pinkerton’s size as both teams are 19-1. They did not play during the regular season.

North is led by guard Jayden Montgomery, Jack Peters and Jack Sullivan, all key seniors. The Astros have a eight seniors and lots of size, led by 6-foot-9 junior Jackson Marshall. Sean Jenkins (6-5) and senior guard Anthony Chinn are keys as well. The question is if they can run the floor with North, which has had the finals in their sights ever since losing to Goffstown in last year’s semis, also at Exeter.

“I’m glad we get a chance to get back there this year,” Titans coach Steve Lane said. “They’re fearless and they just love to play.”

While Pinkerton breezed by Windham 77-55 in its quarterfinal while North, paced by sophomore Parth Miglani, survived Exeter 58-55.

Meanwhile, No. 4 Nashua South (16-4) will take on top seed Bedford (19-1), a rematch of a regular season game in which the Bulldogs took control for a 64-58 win at the Belanger Gym just over a month ago. It was really a game that had the ‘Dogs feeling they are legit contenders.

Bedford barely made it. They were down 18 vs. Trinity and rallied to win in overtie, 93-91. If the Bulldogs get into the 80s or 90s, it could be trouble for the Panthers, who are led by the dynamic guard duo of Zach Castonguay and Josh Caruso, plus 6-9 center Denis Wainaina. The key for South will be trying to defensively put the clamps on Bedford’s tough combo of Luke Soden and Aiden O’Connell. Soden had 42 points and O’Connell 34 in the win over Trinity. Yikes.

BOYS HOCKEY

DIVISION I

No. 3 Bishop Guertin (14-5) is geared up to face upstart No. 7 Londonderry (12-8) in their 7:30 semi, with No. 1 unbeaten Concord facing No. 4 Bedford in the 5 p.m. game.

The Lancers have won 6 of 7, including one-goal tourney wins over Hanover and an upset of Windham, and they beat the Cards 4-3 nearly a month ago in a penalty fest.

Guertin has 14 seniors and is primed to get to the finals, but Cards coach Gary Bishop knows the key will be to stay out of the penalty box.

“They’re physical, we’re physical,” Bishop said, “so hopefully we can stay out of the penalty box.”

DIVISON II

The No. 4 Tomahawks (12-6-1) have to feel like they have a good shot against the No. 1, 13-4-1 Saints of St. Thomas. They dropped two one-goal games to the Saints during the regular season, 4-3 and 6-5. Plus, Saint Thomas had a bye to the semis so it hasn’t played since Feb. 25, over 10 days.

Merrimack, led by scorers Eliot Medlock and Owen Miner, also has arguably one of the best goalies in the division in Matt Licata. He had 20 saves in a shutout of Goffstown in the quarters.

Like all of the above games, should be a good one.
