HS Roundup: BG field hockey gets win, North teams triumph

Wednesday was a light day with the local schedule, but still eventful. It was a notable day for the Bishop Guertin field hockey program, while Nashua South, despite a loss, played well. Nashua North got golf and girls volleyball wins as well.
Here’s your rundown:
FIELD HOCKEY
BISHOP GUERTIN 2, SALEM 0
The Cards held Salem without a shot (28-0) and got goals by Skylar Naftali and Sophia Bilodeau in their season opener on the road. They made a winner of new coach Dakota Bilodeau in her debut.
Naftali’s goal was asssted by Maddie Harrington, and Bilodeau’s goal was helped by Taylor Guibord. That goal was scored with BG down two players.
Guertin is at Windham today.
KEENE 2, NASHUA SOUTH 0
The Panthers (0-2) battled the Blackbirds thanks to an outstanding effort in goal by Xiadani DeLaLima with 16 stops. The ‘Birds got a late third period goal and then added one in the fourth.
DeLaLima got defensive help from Emily Richard, Roseanne Shiju, Keira Walsh and Meenu Swaraka.
South is off until it visits Pinkerton next Wednesday, Sept. 6
VOLLEYBALL
NASHUA NORTH 3, ALVIRNE 0
The host Titans won their season opener over the Broncos with a 25-16, 25-17, 25-15 sweep.
Taylor Joyal had six kills, 11 digs and four aces, while Kaylee Simonds (eight kills, four digs) and JoJo Desfosses (16 assists, one ace, four digs.)
GOLF
NORTH FIRST, SOUTH FOURTH
The Titans captured a quad match at Salem’s Scottish Highlands, totaling 200, four shots ahead of Pinkerton (204) and seven up on host Salem (207). Nashua South was fourth with 227.
Jeff Maddock led the Titans with a 38, followed by Jacob Landry (39), Taylor Barry (40), Drew Goulet (41), Tommy Dratch (42) and Morgan Barry (43).
Broden Landsteiner led South with a 43, while Tyler Girouard and Brendon Doughty each had a 45. Noah Soule and Ryan Arnesen added 47s each.
BISHOP GUERTIN SECOND
The Cards totaled 218 at Hanover’s Montcalm Golf Club, while host Hanover was first at 204. Londonderry (225) took third and Memorial (254) was a distanced fourth.
Beau Dubois (41), Joe DeKarski (43), Owen Murphy and Kevin Broderic (44 each) and Ryan Lucca (46) paced BG.
