HS Roundup: Lopez goal gives South win; HB girls roll

Tuesday was mainly Soccer Day in the local high school world, and the usual suspects came out on top — the Nashua South boys and the Hollis Brookline girls.

But there were some other intersting results, so let’s take a glance:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 1, EXETER 0

Leo Lopez scored the lone goal of the game to give the Panthers (8-2) their fourth straight win. South’s back line contributed to the team’s sixth shutout of the season.

South visits Concord Friday.

LONDONDERRY 3, ALVIRNE 2

The Broncos (1-7) lost a tough battle with the Lancers on Tuesday afternoon. Derek Boulanger and Garrett Howard scored for the locals. Alvirne hosts Timberlane on Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER

EXETER 2, NASHUA SOUTH 1

The Panthers (5-4) drop their third straight contest with a loss to the Bluehawks. Ella Benzekri scored with assists by Ava Kopicko and Soraya Ross. South hosts Concord on Thursday.

MILFORD 2, CONVAL 2

The Spartans (2-5-2) come out with a tie in an exciting matchup with ConVal. Claire Cote and Alina St. George each had a goal with Trinity Milner (five saves), Keely Giordono and Jocelyn Shaw having a big impact in the game. Milford hosts Plymouth on Thursday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, SOUHEGAN 0

The Cavs improve to 9-0 after a shutout win against the Sabers (0-8) on the road. McKenna Maguire tallied a hat trick; while Rosalie DeSantis, Donagha Lussier and Sam Disco each recorded one goal. Lily Bouchard had two assists, Lauren Holt and Addison Fyfe each added one.

Sienna Anderson, Marleigh Kreick and Mya Blackman also played well in the win. HB visits ConVal on Friday and Souhegan visits Lebanon on Saturday.

GOLF

SOUTH SECOND, BG THIRD IN QUAD MATCH

Only five shots separated winner Manchester Memorial (209) and fourth place Manchester Central (214) with North, now 10-7, second (211), just edging third place Bishop Guertin (212).

Drew Goulet led North with a 40, while Jeff Maddock was next at 42. Taylor Barry and Jacob Landrey each had a 43 and Dawson Bolton had a 44.

For the Cards, Beau Dubois tied for medalist honors witha 36, while Joe DeKarski and Maria Tribou each had a 43, Owen Murphy came in at 44, and Chase Brisbois had a 46.

On Monday, the Cards finished second (220) to Keene (215) but ahead of Pinkerton (223) at Hoodkroft. DeKarski (41), Dubois (42) and Brisbois (44) led the way.
