Finaly, victory for the Nashua High School South boys soccer team.

The Panthers had been winless in their last four games, 0-2-2, but came away with a win at Stellos Stadium on Tuesday at Stellos Stadium.

How big was it?

“I told them this week was an important week, we needed points,” South coach Tom Bellen said. “There’s a glut of teams right around where we are (in the standings). There’s a lot of ties this year with no overtime, and there’s not a lot of teams that can score goals regularly. … We need some of these wins. We have a tough remaining schedule. This (win) is a nice building block.”

Meanwhile, the Battle of the Bridge may be close to being decided. The Nashua North golf team topped South in a four-team match at Pease Golf Course, and that gives the Titans a 7-6-2 lead. It can own the Bridge if the JV golf team beats South today at Hoodkroft in Derry. If South wins, then the Battle will be tied and the tiebreaker being which school’s cheerleading team scores higher in the NHIAA State Championship on Nov. 10.
