AMHERST — It was a great season opener late Sunday for the Nashua High School South gymnastics team.
The Panters came in first place over Exeter with a team score of 117.550, surpassing the team high from last season in a meet at Gymnastics Village hosted by both Nashua North and South.
Two all-arounds for South excelled seniors Renee Glidden and Katie Perry. Perry was second in the all-around with a score of 31.400 while Glidden was third at 30.850. That surpassed any of Glidden’s scores from last year as well.
Glidden and Perry shined on vault and uneven bars, while Abbey Herbert and Perry did well on balance beam. Perry and Nina Somorrostro also excelled on floor exercise. Freshman Maddie LaFleur made her debut on balance beam another new gymnast, senior Ryenne Georgiana competed on vault and floor.
For North, freshman Allison Tarbox scored a 6.000 on beam while sophomore Ashlynn Hall had an 8.85 on floor Returning junior Lynnlee Davis competed on balance beam for the second year and used a new floor routine in her debut.
The Titan gymnasts are competing as independents, as North fell short of having the numbers for a full varsity.
