HS Roundup: Hockey wins for BG, MHBDS, A-M; local wrestlers win

It was another big hockey/wrestling Saturday, as three locals – Bishop Guertin, Merrimack-HB-Derryfield and Alvirne-Milford picked up wins, and Nashua South-Pelham played one of its best games. That and some quad meet wrestling are in the Saturday roundup:
BOYS HOCKEY
NASHUA SOUTH-PELHAM 3, EXETER 3 (OT)
The good news is the Kings, who suffered two straight OT losses, didn’t suffer a third. The bad is they had a 3-2 lead before the Blue Hawks’ West Vaillant scored with 39 seconds left in regulation to send the game to the extra session.
Dan Ramahlo had a goal and an assist for the Kings, who also got goals from Kaden Cruz and Brendan Skelley. Gavin Asimakopulos had an assist.
Ethan Robinson had 32 saves in goal for the Kings, now 2-8-1 and hosting Bedford on Wednesday.
BISHOP GUERTIN 2, LONDONDERRY 1
The Cards keep on rolling, as they improved to 9-3 with their fifth straight win. They’re at Hanover on Wednesday in a big Divison I joust.
MERRIMACK-HB-DERRYFIELD 5, ST.THOMAS 2
The Warhawks got two goals by Ryan Warringten to improve to 8-4-1 in a battle of Division II contenders.
Alex Gertz had a goal and an assist while MHBDS’ other scorers were Colin Hamlin and Will Farrell (plus an assist). Elliot Cahill, Josh Kahn, Alex May and Jackson Woods also had assists. James Brew got the win in goal for the WarHawks, who are at Oyster River on Wednesday.
ALVIRNE-MILFORD 7, BISHOP BRADY-MERRIMACK VALLEY 2
Braydon Atwood had four goals while Brandon Ganas, Landon Briand, and Brandon Callahan also scored to lift the Admirals to 9-3 with their fifth straight win.
Assists went to Callahan, Mason Tomkins (two), Briand, Cam Cook, Logan Howard and Ryan Ricard while Mason Komarek had 16 saves in goal.
Alivrne-Milford hosts Portsmouth-Newmarket Wednesday night at Skate 3.
WRESTLING
BG DROPS TWO
The Cards bowed to Pinkerton 44-28 and were edged by Windham in a quad meet at Alvirne. They got wins by Wesley Steinruck (two), James Algeo, Dominic Stamp (two), Finn Murphy (two) and Bishop Kearns (two).
HOLLIS QUAD MEET
The Cavs went 1-2, beating Bow 40-38 but falling to Nashua North 41-36 and Timberlane 57-17. The Titans lost to Timberland 63-17.
North winners included Owen Gagnon, Hayden Durocher, Gavin Page (two), Tavyon Moore, Kayden Vallerand-Kennaeally, Fernando Naranjo, Ruben De Jesus (two), and Edward Gonzalez.
HB winners in the three matches included Victor Lomme (two) Hunter Knight, Caden Bruseo (two), Jacob Critchfield (three), Martin Burns, Jacob Velez (two), Phillip Berke (three) and Harrison Holmes.
TWO OF THREE FOR MILFORD
The Spartans topped Nashua South 56-24 and Winnacunnet 36-33 but fell to Pelham 39-36 at the Winnacunnet Quad Meet.
BOYS BASKETBALL
JOHN STARK 56, SOUHEGAN 53
It was a tough Saturday noon loss for the Sabers, despite 18 points by Sean Zerega. Now 5-8, the Sabers host Plymouth on Tuesday.
