HS Roundup: BG boys win at buzzer; North girls pull away

That’s a wrap, folks, for most local high school boys and girls basketball teams’ regular seasons.

Only a couple of teams have games remaining later this week, and the final night of many’s regular season produced some thrills and chills; a last second win for the BG boys, a close win for the Nashua North girls at Merrimack, and sure, a few one-sided affairs.

Here’s a look:

BOYS BASKETBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 64, WINNACUNNET 62

Eli Youssef netted the game winner at the buzzer for the Cardinals (10-8). Luca Fabrizio and Connor McGowan tallied 20 and 19 points respectively for the locals.

NASHUA SOUTH 75, CONCORD 40

The Panthers end the regular season with a 14-4 record and a five game winning streak. Josh Caruso led with 16 points, Josh Tripp added 15 and Daniel Karavanic had 11.

ALVIRNE 53, WINDHAM 51

Andrew Deely came through with a big night as he had 17 points to lead the way. Alvirne finishes up the regular season at 13-5 and awaits the tournament pairings to be announced later this week. The Divison I postseason begins next Wednesday.

CONVAL 46, SOUHEGAN 40

The Sabers (8-10) finish up with a tough defensive battle that ended in a loss. Sean Zerega knocked down 19 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

NASHUA NORTH 57, MERRIMACK 51

The Titans (8-10) used a late game push on the free throw line to surpass the Tomahawks (2-16). Angie King was on fire totaling 24 points with six three-pointers. Aidan Walker scored 11 and Lily Small added eight.

Merrimack’s Natalia Maglio and Meghan McCarthy each scored 13 points with Abby Herod had 11.

NASHUA SOUTH 66, CONCORD 28

Nicole De Jesus finished the regular season strong with a 23 points performance in the Panthers (8-10) win. Addie Borden (12 points), Karina O’Donnell (nine points) and Hailey Cote (eight points) added to the strong offensive play.

WINDHAM 47, ALVIRNE 43

The Broncos finish the season with a 10-8 record after their loss to the Jaguars. Ella Hartson collected 15 points, Lexi Floyd scored 13 and Courtney Anderson had eight.

MILFORD 52, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 22

The Spartans (14-3) pulled away after outscoring the Cavs (8-10) 32-10 in the second half. Lulu Maguire knocked down five three-pointers, Avery Fuller scored eight of her 12 in the third quarter, Ellianna Nassy tallied nine points and Lexi Bausha had eight. Brook Bouchard paced HB with six points.

SOUHEGAN 62, CONVAL 23

The Sabers sent out the seniors on Senior Night with a big win that began with a 16-2 Souhegan start. Tess Jancar led the way with 21 points.

Other seniors contributing to the win were Nevaya Mortimer with eight points, Phoeber Faucher with six, and Caroline Drum with five.

Souhegan won four of its last five games to wrap up the regular season at 8-10, and will await the tournament pairings for next week’s postseason.
