Strong run for Nashua Cal Ripken 12U’s ends
Nashua’s 12U All-Stars run this summer has come to an end. The team from Easton,Mass., played exceptionally well in all facets of the game, and a weary Nashua team just could not keep up Wednesday night.
It was a clear victory for Easton, 5-0, advancing them to the finals of the New England Regional tournament to take on the Connecticut champions from West Hartford, Conn.
While Nashua came up short of its goal to win the New England Regional tournament this year, it by no means takes away from the amazing accomplishments of this 12U group. The team battled through injuries and players adapted to taking on new roles/positions. They endured long car rides, thunderstorm rain-outs and heat, daily changes in schedule, hotel stays, and strong competition.
Through it all, the team advanced to the Regional semifinal for the second consecutive year, they won this year’s New Hampshire state championship, and finished with an 11-4 record over the past month.
The boys represented Nashua and all of New Hampshire well, exhibiting great sportsmanship and respect for opponents and umpires alike. They supported their teammates on and off the field and forged great friendships with each other that will last a lifetime.
